In the shared plans how do I manage all sites and workspace from backend?

In shared plans you will be the Site Collection Administrator. You will be provided with a control panel to manage the users. Any server side changes or installation is not possible in the shared plans. If you require access to central admin, you should opt for our Flex or Dedicated plan.

How many domains can be linked in a shared environment?

You can have users using multiple domains as a user ID. The plans allow creation of only one SharePoint site. You can purchase additional SharePoint sites. These additional SharePoint sites can use the same domain name or a different domain name.

How can I migrate my SharePoint site from its current location to Apps4Rent?

We provide free migration assistance to customers looking towards migrating data to us from existing in-house/on-premise SharePoint servers or from another provider. The first step is to sign up for our services with the relevant plan. You would need to provide us with the backup files which we will be restoring it in our environment. The backup files are usually in the .cpm and .bak format. These can be uploaded by FTP to us and we will restore the site for you in our environment.

Whom should I send the information about our existing site to in order to migrate to your service?

Once you Sign up with us, you can contact our support department by sending an e-mail to support@apps4rent.com and provide them with your current SharePoint site URL. We will provide you with the FTP location where the files can be uploaded.

Do you offer trial period with your SharePoint Dedicated plans?

We provide 30 day money back guarantee on all our Hosted SharePoint plans. Trials are not provided for any of our offerings. The Dedicated Server and Flex Server offerings are not covered under the 30-day money back guarantee.

Is domain name included with SharePoint plan?

In this case, you have two options: A. If you have a domain then you can use that or purchase a new domain while signing up. B. Alternately, you can use our domain to host your site with us. i.e xxxxxx.apps4rent.info.*

How long will it take to activate my account?

Once you have filled the order form, and configured the control panel for first use; your account would be activated immediately.

Plan Details

For $8.95 per month, what level of access will I get?

This is the most basic plan that we have for our SharePoint offering. You will have full access as a Site Collection Administrator of the SharePoint site. You will be the administrator of the site and will be able to add/remove and manage your users from our Control Panel. You will be able to perform all functions that come along with SharePoint Foundation 2010. As these are hosted offerings; you would not have access to the Web Application/ Central Administration or make server wide changes.

Can you let me know what features are available with SharePoint Platinum plan which is available at $ 59/month?

We offer SharePoint Foundation 2010 as an out-of-the-box solution with all the features enabled. All our plans come with fully enabled SharePoint Foundation 2010 Site Collection. There are no crippled functionalities for lower plans or enhanced funtionality for higher plans.

The only difference between the Hosted SharePoint Plans are the assigned disk space. You would be given access to the control panel from where you can manage your SharePoint site and the users. You will also be a Site Collection Administrator for your SharePoint site.

What functionality and specifications do you offer with SharePoint Server 2010 Standard Bronze plan?

We offer SharePoint Server 2010 (Standard) as an out-of-the-box solution with all the features enabled for SharePoint Server 2010 Standard. All our plans come with fully enabled SharePoint Server 2010 Standard Site Collection. There are no crippled functionalities for lower plans or enhanced functionality for higher plans. The only difference between the Hosted SharePoint Standard Plans are the number of users and assigned disk space. You would be given access to the control panel from where you can manage your SharePoint site and the users. You will also be a Site Collection Administrator for your SharePoint site. If you want to use normal out-of-the-box SharePoint Server 2010 Standard functionalities then you can go for any of our hosted SharePoint Server 2010 Standard Plans. If you need access to the Central Administration of SharePoint or direct access to the server then you would need to go for Dedicated SharePoint Server plan.

Can I deploy my developed web part (OOB) in your Hosted SharePoint plans?

Yes, you can upload webpart in .WSP format. If your web part needs server side changes or if the webpart has to be deployed on the server side then the most cost effective way to do this is to go our Flex Dedicated SharePoint environment where you get full access to the Central Administration of SharePoint as well as the server.

I am a developer and have Visual Studio installed on my machine. I want to do some web part development. What do you recommend?

The best way to do this is to go for our Flex SharePoint Servers. With Flex Offering, you get a dedicated front end server with SharePoint installed. You get full access to the server as an administrator along with full access to the Central Administration of SharePoint. You will be able to install your own application, make changes to the web.config file, and deploy your own solutions. The database server is a Shared server. How can I do Admin work on a SharePoint site, for instance, creating lists, list items, pages, add content….etc. ? What plan allows me to carry out these functionality?

Do your Hosted SharePoint plans offer Active Directory integration and Central Admin?

Our hosted plans do not provide access to the Active Directory server. With our hosted SharePoint plan you get access to the Control Panel; which is tightly integrated with the Active Directory. You can create users from the control panel. If you need access to the Active Directory then you need to go for Flex Environment or Dedicated SharePoint Server environment.

I am looking for a provider who can host an Access database on their server so that I can have about 4 people accessing it at the same time. Do you offer the same? And what would be the cost?

If you would like multiple people to access the same MS Access Database at the same time then you could go for Hosted SharePoint Enterprise solution. However, this does not allow multiple users to make changes to the database at the same time. Alternately, you can choose our MS VDI offering and share the Database.

I am looking for the ability to create reports/queries and print them locally? Do you offer SharePoint solution that offer this feature?

Yes. Printing is a local functionality through your browser. You will be able to print your reports and queries via our SharePoint offerings.

Will I have access to SharePoint designer with $8.95 per month SharePoint plan?

Yes, you will get access to SharePoint Designer on all our hosted plans.

Do you offer a dedicated site collection with $8.95 per month SharePoint plan?

All our customers in the hosted environment get a Dedicated Site Collection and are Site Collection Administrators. You will be able to create your own Site Collection using your own domain or our domain from the Control Panel.

I want to develop my own master pages in hosted SharePoint environment? How can I do that?

You can use SharePoint designer to customize the site.

Do you offer anonymous login?

Yes, we do offer Anonymous Access feature with our SharePoint offerings. With SharePoint Foundation, this feature is enabled by default for all our customers. For our SharePoint Server 2010 (Standard/Enterprise) offerings there are additional charges.

Can I use SharePoint for storing my documents?

Yes, you can use SharePoint for document storage.

I don’t want a Hosted Exchange account. Can I still use your SharePoint Hosting and and set alerts and send documents to groups?

Yes. Hosted Exchange and Hosted SharePoint are two different products and they work independent of each other. You can have Hosted SharePoint without subscribing to Hosted Exchange services.

What workflows are available in WSS 3.0?

The only workflow that comes with WSS 3.0 and SharePoint Foundation Out of the Box is the Three-State Workflow.
